McDowell County's Mission is to provide coordinated programs and professional services that protect the health, safety and welfare of its citizens, and preserve the county's natural environment and heritage.  The McDowell County Parks and Recreation's mission is to enhance the quality of life for McDowell County citizens by acquiring, developing, conserving and maintaining parks, recreation facilities and open areas for everyone's enjoyment. McDowell County Parks and Recreation, in partnership with community places of worship and youth groups, provides recreational facilities that offer fun and active programs for residents of all ages.
